PHOTO SHOW REPORT - INFECTED RAIN, AVVEN@PEKARNA, MARIBOR 4TH MAY

On the 4th of May, the road took us to Maribor, the second biggest city of Slovenia. We went to check out two of the rising bands on the scene. Mc Pekarna club hosted Moldavian Infected Rain and Slovenian Avven.

At 9.30 p.m. the show was scheduled to begin, but with some complications, they began with a little delay, around half an hour later.

By the time Slovenian folk modern metal act Avven began to play, a few people gathered in front of the stage. They opened the show with the song "Hej ti!", from their second album "Kastalija", and continued the first part of the show with songs from the same album. During first few songs, the audience got bigger. It is a small hall, but still, by the end of the show, a good number of people saw them play. The second part of the show they continued with the songs from the recently released EP "Eos". The band is definitely going in a good direction. With the new EP they updated their style, the lyrics are in English and more modern metal influences can be heard. With the diverse range of instruments, they still capped the folk element in the songs, which is definitely a start in a good direction. They closed the show with "Empires" and lifted the crowd for the headliners of the show.

Later Infected Rain from Moldova took over the stage. They are a five-piece female fronted, nu metal band. Their music is energetic, filled with hard riffs and influenced by different modern metal styles. When they began to play the place was already nicely packed, so they had a good crowd. They began with the songs from the new studio album: "86". The opening song was "Orphan Soul". After first few new songs the crowd became even more energetic, they raised the atmosphere to the next level. Then it was time for some songs from the second album: "Embrace Eternity". They played: "Stop Waiting" and "Enslaved By A Dream", we also heard some music from the first album. The last song to perform was "My Home", the last song on their recent album. After that, there was the standard "We want more" and they closed the show with "Judgemental Trap", from the first album "Asylum".

Although the sound was at times weaker due to the small space of the hall, it was overall a great performance of both bands, that we definitely want to see some more in the future.
