We had a privilege to chat with the emerging UK blackened deathcore force She Must Burn that just finished their very first US tour with Carnifex and released a new album "Grimoire"!
1. You toured the U.S for the first time ever with Carnifex, Fallujah, Rings of Saturn, and Lorna Shore. How is hanging with the guys? How was the impact with the US fans? How is the reaction to the new songs?
Yes we are. Yeah we all get along really well. We are definitely leaving the US with life long friends. The guys in the other bands are great, we couldn't have hoped for a better bunch of people to hang with and perform with on a daily basis. Yeah we are going down great here. The fans have been fantastic, we are definitely making new fans. There are a fair few people that have been waiting for us to come to the states for a long time, too which is awesome. People love our new stuff. We have been selling our new album on tour and we have two new songs in our set too and it's gone down a treat.
2. What are the first differences you noticed to Europe?
We've not toured the rest of Europe yet, we've gone from UK to US so we are yet to find out the real differences.
3. On March 3rd you released your new album "Grimoire"? How long was this in the making? Also you have guest Sean Harmanis from Make Them Suffer on track "Gloom". How did this happen?
This has been just over a year In the making. We met Sean backstage in London whilst they were performing at the never say die tour with Carnifex. We just chatting and arranged for him to be on a track. He's an awesome guy, I'm sure will work a lot more with Sean and MTS in the future.
4. Who did the artwork for the album and what was the idea for it?
The art was done by Artery, Our label, they presented us with a few ideas and we went from there. We wanted something striking. We love what they come up with.
5. What are your fave past times when being on tour?
Meeting new people mainly. We always have a few hours before the bus leaves so we get to visit a few bars, hang out on the bus with the carnifex guys and their friends from the shows or hang out with some people we met after we played. We've also visited universal studios when we were in florida on one the days off. In honesty we've had a few heavy nights drinking too.
6. You will be playing Download Festival! That's pretty amazing, right?
Oh hell yeah, we've waited to play download for as long as we've wanted to play music. It's one of the biggest UK festivals so it's what most UK Rock and Metal bands aspire to play. To be on the bill already is something we couldn't of expected. We can't wait to play it. One tick for the bucket list thats for sure.
7. Looking back, last year in December you toured UK with Devilment? How was that tour? How is Dani off stage?
Danni is a good friend of ours ever since we toured with cradle of filth. He's a down to earth and very intelligent guy. We will definitely be touring with him again soon. The tour was great, full of energy. We love touring the UK. Nothing like seeing more of your own country and meeting your neighbors.
8. What bands influenced you? What are your first records you bought, first shows you attended?
As a band we hold lots of different influences. We follow bands such as black dahlia murder, aversions crown, cradle of filth, bring me the horizon, advent sorrow and the list goes on.
9. Any plans for the new video?
Yeah for sure, definitely keep an eye on our pages. More news and content coming soon.
10. How would you describe She Must Burn?
A 6 Piece Black metal / deathcore outfit.
11. If you had to pick which horror movie would be most perfect with She Must Burn music?
The Witch or something similar. We are more of a supernatural horror over zombies I think
12. Deathcore music was recently been much talked subject. All the fuss about new Suicide Silence album with cleans, then dissing Thy Art Is Murder and where is deathcore going. Whats your view on that?
We to try and mind our business and do what's best for us. Every band should do whatever they want to do whilst respecting their fans too. People shouldn't worry about what other bands want to do, it's their music, you know? But maybe don't stray too far from the path when doing so. You end up abandoning loyal fans.
13. Shout out to...
Our friends and families who have supported us along the way. Artery Recordings for the same. And big a shout out to all of ours fans. We wouldn't be where we are without you, we hope to see you all soon.
