Stone Sour will release House of Gold & BonesPt. 2, the second part of their two-album series, House of Gold & Bones, on April 9. The albums were recorded at Sound Farm Studios just outside of the band's native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse) at the helm.
Stone Sour - House of Gold & Bones Part 2
The first single from House of Gold & BonesPt. 2, “Do Me A Favor,” will be available digitally on February 12; the video for “Do Me A Favor” will be directed by Phil Mucci, whose video for High On Fire's “Fertile Green” was named best video of 2012 by Revolver.
Stone Sour will be performing at the 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Awards May 2 in Los Angeles. They are nominated for three awards—Corey Taylor for “Best Vocalist,” House of Gold & Bones Part 1 for “Album of the Year” and Roy Mayorga for “Best Drummer.”
Taylor recently performed at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah as part of the Sound City Players, Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl’s band of musicians assembled to play the original music they created in his directorial debut documentary, Sound City. Sound City recounts the history of the Van Nuys, CA recording studio where Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Neil Young and of course Nirvana and Slipknot
recorded so many of their classic works. The film also explores the
human element of playing and recording music, as Grohl invites Sound
City veterans to create new, original songs using the hallowed Neve 8028
recording console that he purchased from the decommissioned studio in
2011.
Music is just one of the mediums used to tell the House of Gold & Bones
story, and Taylor recently revealed details of the new project with
Dark Horse Comics of the same name, which follows, and expands on, the
story contained within the albums. With stunning covers from Jason Shawn Alexander (Empty Zone, Batman, Abe Sapien),
this four-issue limited series marks Taylor’s debut in the comics
genre. The first issue of the series will be out on April 17.
Stone Sour is on tour in North America through February 17 (find a show near you), and will return in March for the Road to the Golden Gods tour, which will run through May 2.
