Atlanta, Georgia-based HEAL THE HURT release their new single, “Afraid Of Silence,” today, October 16, 2026. Following their latest release, “Critical Error,” the band dig deeper into the cycle of burnout, digital dependence, and the relentless search for connection in a world competing for our attention. The track examines how the pressure to stay productive, visible, and relevant can gradually consume a person's identity, turning the pursuit of success into an exhausting cycle that leaves little room for genuine connection or peace.
“Afraid Of Silence” explores the noise that keeps the productivity-to-identity cycle alive. Its lyrics depict a life spent hiding behind screens, performing happiness, and fearing that stepping away means becoming irrelevant. At its core, the song confronts the need to be seen and understood, questioning what happens when constant online activity becomes a substitute for meaningful human connection. As the pressure to maintain a carefully constructed image grows, the silence outside that digital world becomes something increasingly difficult to face.
For vocalist and songwriter Trevor Tyson, the subject comes directly from his experience pursuing success as a podcaster and business owner. “I never felt ahead. I was always chasing progress, trying to stay relevant and catch up to my idea of success,” Tyson shares. “No matter how much I accomplished, it never felt like enough. Looking back, it felt more like a prison than chasing a dream. I completely lost myself.” Tyson continues: “How can we live without rest? How can we rest without peace? And how can we find peace if we never give ourselves time?” His reflections capture the personal cost behind the song, connecting the pressure to achieve with the struggle to reclaim a sense of self.
The release arrives ahead of HEAL THE HURT’s NO HOPE IN HELL TOUR, presented by KingdomCore Presents. The band will headline across the country this November with MAGDALENE ROSE and UNBROKEN REIGN, followed by a West Coast leg in early 2027 with CULTIST and SMALL VOICE. Between tour legs, HEAL THE HURT will return home for their first Christmas Against Traffic event on December 19 at The Masquerade’s Altar in Atlanta. Presented in partnership with Rock Against Traffic and Against Traffic Industries, the event will feature HEAL THE HURT, MAGDALENE ROSE, MEADOWS, CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE, THRONES, SEQUOIA, and special guest TOMMY GREEN, raising awareness and supporting quality aftercare for survivors of human trafficking. With “Afraid Of Silence” out today, HEAL THE HURT challenge listeners to confront the noise, step away from the endless chase, and rediscover what matters beyond the screen.
