After several years away, UK alternative rock outfit VERIDIAN have officially returned with their powerful new single, “It Takes Time,” released via Year Of The Rat Records on June 26. The track marks the band's first new chapter in years, reaffirming the melodic intensity and emotional songwriting that earned them acclaim while introducing a renewed sense of maturity and purpose.
Built around soaring hooks, expansive instrumentation, and heartfelt lyricism, “It Takes Time” captures the emotions that come with growth, change, and rediscovering what truly matters. While retaining the band's signature anthemic sound, the single reflects a more refined and introspective approach, shaped by the experiences of the years spent away from the spotlight.
Speaking about the release, vocalist Simon Jackman shared: “‘It Takes Time’ felt like the perfect song to reintroduce ourselves after stepping away for a few years. The last four years gave us time to grow individually, reflect on where we were creatively and reconnect with why we started making music together in the first place. Coming back into the studio felt really natural, and this track captures a lot of the emotions around patience, change and trying to hold onto something while life pulls you in different directions. Musically, it still has the big melodic hooks and emotional energy that people know us for, but there’s also a maturity to it that reflects where we are now as people and as a band. We’re incredibly proud of how the song turned out and genuinely excited to finally release new music again. We’ve also really missed playing live, so getting back on stage to headline Sub89 in our hometown of Reading on 14th August is going to be a massive moment for us. We can’t wait to see everyone again and hear what people think of the new chapter of Veridian.”
Having previously toured and shared stages across the UK with Holding Absence, Dream State, and Normandie, as well as performing at Download Festival, VERIDIAN return with renewed momentum. Their hometown headline show at Sub89 in Reading on August 14 promises to celebrate both a long-awaited comeback and the beginning of an exciting new era for a band ready to reclaim their place in the UK's modern rock landscape.
