THIN ICE Deliver Hard-Hitting Reality Check With New EP ‘Happiness Ain’t Meant For All’

Schweinfurt, Germany-based hardcore outfit Thin Ice continue their mission of raw, direct aggression with the release of their crushing new EP Happiness Ain’t Meant For All, arriving on May 8th. Formed in 2019, the band have steadily built their reputation through relentless energy and no-nonsense songwriting, following their 2021 debut EP Keep It Alive and 2024 full-length A Matter Of Time, alongside touring across Europe and Indonesia.

Across five tightly wound tracks, the new EP draws influence from hardcore heavyweights such as Terror, Madball, and Incendiary, delivering a sound packed with driving riffs, defiant lyrics, and unrelenting pace. From the opening impact of “Mind’s At War” to the punishing breakdowns of “Let The Pain Begin,” THIN ICE stay locked into pure, steadfast hardcore intensity.

Lyrically, Happiness Ain’t Meant For All digs into themes of inner conflict, exploitation, emotional strain, and the importance of setting boundaries against toxic influence. Rather than offering escape, the EP confronts harsh realities head-on, channeling frustration into direct, cathartic release through every track.

The EP was recorded and produced by Jason Rowe, with mixing and mastering handled by Justin Felder, Bastian Kühn, and David Deutsch at 1408 Productions. Physically, Happiness Ain’t Meant For All is available on vinyl via Subculture For Life Records and on cassette through DITS Records, reinforcing the band’s deep roots in DIY hardcore culture.
