EPHAISUS Expand Boundaries Of Progressive Metal With Epic Wayfarer EP

Toronto, Ontario-based solo progressive metal artist EPHAISUS returns with Wayfarer, a 28-minute conceptual EP that blends intricate instrumental storytelling with select vocal collaborations and high-level technical musicianship. The release also features contributions from Blake Richardson, adding further rhythmic depth and precision to the project’s expansive structure.

Spanning five tracks, Wayfarer unfolds as a continuous emotional and sonic arc. “Crossroad” opens the EP with a carefully constructed instrumental foundation, setting a tone defined by movement, reflection, and evolving complexity. The pacing is deliberate, allowing themes and motifs to develop naturally rather than relying on immediate impact.

“New Tomorrow,” featuring Stitching Snakes, introduces vocals into the journey, offering a grounded contrast to the otherwise instrumental focus. “Equinox” (feat. Zach Leger) and “Solitude” return to purely instrumental form, emphasizing layered composition, dynamic shifts, and progressive structure over traditional songwriting approaches. Each track builds tension through arrangement rather than repetition.

The EP closes with “Atlas,” featuring Julian Desousa and Tiko Lasola, bringing the journey to a wide and expansive conclusion. With Wayfarer, EPHAISUS delivers a carefully crafted progressive metal statement—cinematic in scope, technical in execution, and unified in vision from beginning to end.
