SUGAR SPINE Present Video Single 'Chained To Your Garden' And Announce New EP

Following the successful release of their 2025 EP ‘Violent Heaven’, high-energy metalcore band SUGAR SPINE continue charging forward with their most intense and vulnerable material yet. The quartet now present their new single ‘Chained To Your Garden’, and unveil their forthcoming EP ‘Soul Before Spirit’, set to release on April 24th via Prime Collective.

“This track came from a deep feeling of despair”, explains vocalist Josh Muncke. “I had asked myself a question; if I didn’t believe in a heaven, but don’t want to deny that my deceased loved ones are still with me somehow, then where are they? It felt horrific to imagine that they’re just floating above me in the sky, just out of reach forever. If that was something created by a god, then I hate him for it.”

Since forming in 2021, SUGAR SPINE have rapidly built momentum within the heavy music scene. The band has released three records - EP ‘Mirror Talk’ (2022) and debut album 'Emerald' (2023) - followed by their 2025 EP ‘Violent Heaven’. Known for their explosive live presence, they have shared stages with heavyweights such as Jesus Piece, Distant, Breakdown of Sanity, Half Me and Misery Signals. Their collaborative efforts also extend to working with acts like Born of Osiris, Bleed From Within and To The Grave.

With ‘Soul Before Spirit’, SUGAR SPINE continue carving out a reputation for intensely personal songwriting and relentless energy - further cementing their position as one of metalcore’s most exciting emerging acts.

“I needed a title that would encapsulate the need for me to be present and live deeply in my experiences, not just float through them without deeply acknowledging them”, Muncke continues. “I’m terrified of dying with regrets and wondering if I really gave things enough time and love. This feeling, combined with the grief of my grandmother’s passing, and my obsession with making this band work, really challenged my beliefs about what’s most important in life. I just hope that, in the end, I feel like I lived as deeply as I could.”

The upcoming EP is produced by Josh Muncke, Sietse de Krieger, and Tom Verstappen, and mixed and mastered by Sebastian Sendon.
