Portland, Oregon-based deathcore outfit CYBERCRIME return with their explosive new EP Postmodern Simulacrum, a tightly packed burst of chaos, technical precision, and genre-blurring aggression. Across its runtime, the release fuses extreme metal brutality with electronic influence, creating a volatile and unpredictable listening experience.
The EP opens with “Murder Voyeurism,” a chaotic introduction that integrates drum & bass-inspired samples with ferocious technical guitar work and pure deathcore violence. The title track “Postmodern Simulacrum” follows with thunderous drums, devastating heaviness, and high-speed, precision-driven riffing that pushes the band’s technical ability to the forefront.
Short but vicious, “Prosperity’s Grand Bargain” delivers concentrated brutality, while “Conditioned For Catastrophe” continues the EP’s relentless momentum with sharp, aggressive structure. “Forgotten Futures” shifts into a more experimental space, opening with synth-driven atmosphere before evolving into a hybrid of electronic rhythm, technical guitar work, and a fully instrumental composition.
The EP closes with “Dysphoric,” bringing the release full circle through a return to chaotic aggression, ending on a suffocating note of intensity and controlled disorder.
With Postmodern Simulacrum, CYBERCRIME deliver a fearless blend of deathcore brutality and electronic experimentation, crafting a release that is as unpredictable as it is punishing.
