Today, Southern Virginia native Trxy! releases his debut album, Drowning In Bliss, out everywhere now via UnitedMasters. This is his first full-length record, positioning him as an artist to watch within his unique blend of shoegaze and nu-metal.
From the hard-hitting intensity of “Cut Out My Heart” to the dreamy sway of focus track “Rot,” and the sonic pushes and pulls of “Shallow,” Drowning In Bliss is a captivating 14-track journey of suffering, emotion, and catharsis that leaves no stone unturned.
“‘Rot’ came from this realization that even the silence can decay.,” shares Trxy!. “When you let something sit and fester, it can eat you alive and break you down. This song lives in that uncomfortable space between avoidance and emotional collapse.”
Written in the midst of profound personal loss and grief, this record is both a release and a raw act of self-exposure. “I was feeling an overwhelming amount of depression at the time and wanted to express that through this album,” Trxy! shares. Each track unfolds as its own emotional chapter, exploring distinct layers of pain and self-reflection, while together forming a unified sonic narrative about the heaviness of simply existing.
“I realized while making Drowning In Bliss that bliss hurts quietly and that even positive emotions can be overwhelming,” he explains. “Positive moments can still bring up grief and uncomfortable memories. These songs are me unpacking that contradiction and working through the flood of feelings I was dealing with while writing the album. It’s my most vulnerable, but most cathartic work yet.”
Trxy!’s origins and writing process make Drowning In Bliss even more impressive. Created on his phone using BandLab, his songs are grounded by a DIY ethos that amplifies their authenticity, the same honesty that has captivated more than 451,000 monthly Spotify listeners.
The new album follows the release of April’s Eternal EP, buoyed by the 66 million streamed global breakout single, “Realize,” which hit the Top 25 of the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart after its viral success via TikTok.
