Lisbon, Portugal-based slamming brutal death metal juggernauts ANALEPSY return with the official video for “Sentient Decay,” a grotesque and unrelenting vision of post-apocalyptic survival. Set in a poisoned aftermath where radiation reshapes flesh and fractures the mind, the track embodies mutation, collapse, and the slow erosion of consciousness as humanity is twisted beyond recognition.
“Sentient Decay” explores survival in its most depraved form — awareness lingering inside a body that no longer resembles its origin. Sonically, the band unleash a barrage of guttural vocals, seismic slams, and precision-driven blast sections that create a suffocating atmosphere of decay. Downtuned riffs grind forward with mechanical brutality, while tempo shifts mimic the instability of a world unraveling at the molecular level. The track feels both calculated and feral, merging technical execution with oppressive weight.
The song carries deep roots within the band’s history. Once known as “Intracranial Radioactive Malformation,” the track has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. Originally composed by Marco Martins and Tiago Correia in 2016, produced by Tiago Correia, and released in 2017 on The Kraanialepsy Split, the reimagined version stands as a reconstruction of a buried remnant from ANALEPSY’s beginnings. Now reborn as “Sentient Decay,” it emerges heavier, sharper, and more refined than ever.
With this release, ANALEPSY do more than revisit the past — they exhume it, mutate it, and weaponize it. “Sentient Decay” stands as both a tribute to their origins and a testament to their evolution, reaffirming their dominance within the slamming brutal death metal underground.
