LIVE REVIEW + AFTERMOVIE - LACUNA COIL, NONPOINT @ (szene), Vienna, Austria – October 29, 2025

It was a sold-out night at (szene) in Vienna as two veterans of the alternative gothic and nu metal scenes — LACUNA COIL and NONPOINT — joined forces for an unforgettable evening of energy, nostalgia, and sheer musical power. Before the show, the venue’s speakers blasted classic nu metal anthems, setting the mood perfectly for what was to come. The crowd, mostly in their 30s and 40s, was proudly decked out in band shirts from legends of the era — even a few Sw1tched tees made an appearance (and yes, if you haven’t heard Subject To Change album, go check it out).

NONPOINT took the stage first for a fierce 50-minute set, proving that the second wave of nu metal is alive and thriving. Having gone independent in recent years, the Florida-based group performed with renewed freedom and conviction. The setlist covered all the essentials — What a Day, Buscándome, Alive and Kicking — along with newer material like Ruthless. The energy never wavered, and frontman Elias Soriano commanded the crowd with trademark charisma. The band closed their set with the explosive Bullet With a Name, leaving the audience amped and ready for the headliners.

At 21:12, the lights dimmed and LACUNA COIL emerged to a roar of anticipation. For the next hour and a half, the Italian gothic alt-metal masters delivered a flawless, emotionally charged performance. Cristina Scabbia’s vocals soared effortlessly, reminding everyone why she remains one of the most captivating voices in modern metal. Their 19-song set was packed with fan favorites — opening with Layers of Time, then tearing through Hosting the Shadow, Spellbound, Heaven’s a Lie, In the Meantime, In Nomine Patris, and Blood, Tears, Dust.

At 22:17, the band briefly left the stage, only to return four minutes later for a triumphant encore. Drummer Richard Meiz was the first to reappear, riling up the crowd before the rest of the band joined him for a thunderous finale featuring The Siege, I Wish You Were Dead, Swamped XX, and Never Dawn. By the end, the room was electric — a shared celebration of resilience, longevity, and passion. Both NONPOINT and LACUNA COIL proved they’re far from done — still evolving, still inspiring, and still commanding the stage like the veterans they are.
