ASTRONOID Share “Depressed Mode” Video As New Album "Stargod" Arrives Via 3DOT Recordings

Astronoid’s new album "Stargod" is out today via 3DOT Recordings, and the Boston-based band have shared a video in tandem with the release, sharing a studio-based clip for “Depressed Mode”.

“’Depressed Mode’ almost didn’t make the record”, Brett Boland shares. “We were trying to complete the record but there wasn’t enough time to finish the lyrics, form, and rehearse the track so it was put on the backburner. We all loved where it was going but there just wasn’t enough time. There was a point in the process though where we had to completely halt the recording of "Stargod" due to family matters. When we got back to it, we decided that the best thing to do was re-track all of the drums for the record. The original drums were recorded in my basement and it was holding back the entire mix. So, with this new date to record in the books I was able to finish “Depressed Mode” and we rehearsed it in time for the recording session. It ended up being one of the most unique tracks on the record and really solidified "Stargod" as a whole.”

The band released a pair of tracks in the lead-up to today’s release, announcing the album with the release of “Third Shot”, a song "Consequence" praised for combining “the band’s signature spaced-out textures and atmospherics with prog flourishes” and “Love Weapon”, which Metal Express Radio said “showcases remarkable versatility” and “anchors the album’s emotional core.”

Between 2022’s critically acclaimed "Radiant Bloom" and the newly released "Stargod", Astronoid experienced professional highs and personal lows. The band were personally invited by Tom DeLonge to open on blink-182’s stadium tour, enjoyed millions of streams, and embarked on worldwide tours. At the same time, they faced profound personal loss with the passing of Casey Aylward’s mom, one of the band members’ most ardent champions, and shortly after, Brett’s mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly.

“It was a tumultuous season. A lot of fans asked, ‘Where did Astronoid go?' Well, we were dealing with life”, Brett says, before expressing his hopes for the new album. “'Stargod' is about our love for music. I can’t believe it’s taken us to where we are, and I wish the people who we’ve lost were here to see what we’ve done.”
