“What is justice?” marks the latest release from BAND-MAID, the internationally acclaimed rock band on a mission for world domination. Featured as the ending theme to Tougen Anki—one of this season’s most buzzed-about anime—the track arrives alongside a high-impact music video fusing the show’s dark aesthetic with the band’s signature intensity.
The video opens with a striking red backdrop and a silhouette of guitarist KANAMI, hinting at the anime’s visual style. From there, BAND-MAID delivers a blistering performance, echoing the series’ themes and supernatural elements. As a specially written track for Tougen Anki, the video is packed with nods fans will recognize, inviting repeat viewings.
Based on the hit manga by Yura Urushibara, Tougen Anki began airing on July 11 and has already become a breakout title of 2025. The manga has sold over 3 million copies and is expanding into a larger franchise, with a stage play, theater production, and game in the works.
I'm truly happy to be involved in the ending theme for TOUGEN ANKI, po! After reading the original manga, I was deeply moved over and over again by the intense battles between those who carry the blood of Oni and Momotaro, po. It really made me reflect on the question, “What is justice?” and I poured those thoughts into the lyrics, po. I hope that everyone who watches the anime can dive even deeper into the world of TOUGEN ANKI through BAND-MAIDʼ s “What is justice?”, po. I canʼ t wait for the anime to start airing, po! - MIKU Kobato (Gt / Vo.)
