WANDERER - Share “Mind Leash” Animated Video

Minneapolis-based metallic hardcore/grindcore outfit WANDERER will release their debut album, Liberation From A Brutalist Existence, in just over two weeks. With the record’s unveiling closing in, the band presents an animated video for the succinct “Mind Leash” through an exclusive premiere hosted by Decibel Magazine.

WANDERER is extremely excited to finally release a record that saw many delays due to the global pandemic. Delivering ten caustic tracks in just over twenty-three minutes, the lyrics discuss topics such as escapism, suicide, self-reflection, the concept of beauty, and existential trauma.

Liberation From A Brutalist Existence was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording (Sunless, Blue Ox, Void Omnia) with additional vocal tracking by Jeff Nicholas. The front cover artwork was created by Azeta Azadpour and the back cover art by Caleb Butcher, and the layout/design was handled by Morgan Carpenter. The record also features guest vocals from Sanjeev Mishra on "Marionette," Mollie Piatetsky on "Simone," and former vocalist Brandon Carrigan on "Contented," as well as producer Adam Tucker providing auxiliary percussion on "Simone."

The “Mind Leash” video was hand-drawn and animated by Cory Peak. Writes WANDERER bassist Jack Carlson, “This is the shortest track on the record, and definitely one of our favorites to play. As for the video, we’ve known Cory from Closet Witch for years and have always liked his work. His style of animation combined with a short burst of blastbeats and fast riffs made the most sense to us, so we asked him to put this video together and it came out great.”

Decibel writes, “If you only spend one minute of your day listening to new music today, let it be ‘Mind Leash,’ a new, fifty-three-second banger from WANDERER. Hailing from Minneapolis and taking their cues from bands like Converge, Trap Them and The Chariot, WANDERER’s ‘Mind Leash’ captures the insanity of the aforementioned bands and spikes it with a dose of grinding madness.”
